Shorties Track & Field Day
 
June 8th & June 22nd
Join us for Track & Field Day in June!

Shorties Track & Field Day will take place on Friday, June 8th and Friday, June 22nd at 10am. Both events are open to boys and girls ages 3 to 7.

Children will compete in four events including a 40 meter dash, 200 meter run, Frisbee toss, and softball throw. Children can choose to compete on one day or both.


Summer Kickoff Party

It's a Great Day at Kids America!

Kickoff the summer in style at Kids America on Saturday, June 2nd from 10am to 1pm. Come to Kids America and play on inflatable rides, bounce houses, play games, enjoy free popcorn and more.

This free event, sponsored by Time Warner Cable Digital Phone, is also a great time to learn more about all the summer events, activities, and camps taking place at Kids America.


Happy Birthday Bill Stanton

Happy 80th Birthday Bill Stanton!

Kids America's Bill Stanton celebrated his 80th birthday on Friday, May 4th. The leader of Senior Coffee Walk & Talk spent the morning with fellow members, senior citizens, and guests.

Bill was even treated to the singing of "Happy Birthday" by the students of Early Advantage Pre-school.

Arthritis Exercise Class at KA
 
Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 8am

Not all pain relief comes in a bottle.

Kids America is hosting a free Arthritis Exercise Class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8am.

The class is being taught by Becky Beiter, RN with the Coshocton County General Health District. Funding for the 8-week class was provided through a grant from the CDC Chronic Disease and Health Promotion Program and the Ohio Department of Health Arthritis Program.

Classes continue through June 21st.


Manchester United's Gordon Hill coming to KA
 
Manchester United's Gordon Hill

At the peak of his professional soccer career, Gordon Hill played for Manchester United. Hill was born in Surrey, England and began his professional career with Millwall. Following his transfer Manchester United, Hill scored 57 goals while playing three years for the world famous club. Hill gained notoriety for his incredible shooting and dribbling. He also played professionally with the Montreal Manic and Chicago Sting. As a coach, Hill is currently the manager of United FC, a youth soccer club based in McKinney, Texas.


Walking Club to Honor Members
 
Esmond Taylor & Kay Fox

Members of the Kids America Walking Club will be honored for their achievements at the club's monthly awards ceremony on May 11th at 9:30 am in the Austin Meeting Room at Kids America.

Individuals to be recognized for their walking achievements include: Esmond Taylor {above left}, Kay Fox {above right} (2500 Mile Club), Alice Rodgers (750), John Husted, Marjorie Tidrick, Victor Veigle (500), Dana Kittell, Bob Domer (150), Dottie Owens (100), Betty Bratton, and Sandy Durbin (50).


Shorties T-Ball a Hit!
 
Summer T-Ball Signups are going on now!

Spring T-Ball at Kids America was another huge success. Games continue through May 10th.

Registrations for the summer session of Shorties T-Ball are now being accepted. Summer T-Ball begins July 28th at KA.


A Water for the Wise

Drink lots of water. That's what they always say. But how much do you need and how does exercise factor into your need for fluid? Well, I've got your answers.

Two to three liters of fluid will fulfill the average adult's daily requirements (AFAA and Kleiner 1997; 2007). You may need to increase your intake due to exercise especially if it is intense activity, during warmer conditions, or if you sweat more than average.

Here are a few recommendations concerning exercise and hydration...
